Be attentive and careful when shopping for automotive parts online. There are many websites out there, all claiming to offer the best deals and products, but it’s up to you to discern between the legitimate and phony businesses. Investigate a business before you buy from them. Hear testimonials and reviews from both sides, the positive and negative ones, and then compare the details to choose the best company. Most online vendors have a website structure, where the information is clearly organized. Usually, the better vendors have an easy-to-use website and their customer service is superior to that of shoddier vendors. A friend of mine with a 99 Dodge Ram Van accidentally purchased 99 Dodge Ram side view mirrors (99 signifying a quantity and not the year of the vehicle). So, the guy had unknowingly ordered ninety nine mirrors. Luckily though, the business called him to verify the purchase, where his mistake was brought to his attention. The moral of the story: be conscientious!
When a side view mirror reads “Objects in mirror may actually be closer than they appear”, you’d better believe it! One fine day almost became one terrible day when I cleverly avoided a near-accident situation. As I was driving mid-day on highway fifty in the El Dorado Hills of California, I glanced to my right rear view mirror and saw an object in the distance coming closer and closer by the second, who turned out to be a speeding motorcyclist. I was traveling in the first lane, and there was a driver next to me in the second lane traveling at the same speed as I. The motorcyclist, a risky driver, tried to pass us both by driving in between us. My 1996 Dodge ram mirror assisted me by raising my awareness of the risky driver, and I was able to speed up and switch lanes, avoiding a mess.
Imagine how different life would be today, if automobiles were never invented. On the bright side, we would all be fit as a fiddle, as we would have no choice but to walk everywhere. I’d imagine, though, that the lack of cars would’ve hindered or prevented many of the technological advancements that are such a big part of our lives. Furthermore, we’d have no chance at exploring the land of the planet on which we live. I’d rather drive ten miles to pick up a gallon of milk and some chocolate chip cookies than walk that same distance. Driving there would take roughly ten minutes, while walking would consume hours of my time. So, as I sit her on my porch staring deeply at my 2002 Dodge Ram side mirrors, I’m taken back at how far human-kind has come in the history of our existence. In this era we are capable of driving and flying at speeds that we would’ve never thought possible a hundred years ago, and for that I’m thankful.
Let’s face it, everyone makes mistakes. Children, though, are more likely than adults to slip-up. When they do, it’s important that they realize their transgressions. While some parents are quick to discipline their child for whatever they have done, other parents take a laissez-faire approach to parenting. I consider myself a liberal when it comes to taking disciplinary action. In fact, the other week my ten year old son through a medium sized rock, unintentionally shattering my 1999 Dodge Ram side mirror. Sure, I was devastated, as this meant I had to buy a replacement, but I kept my cool. So what did I do? First, I approached my son, tears running down his face, and clarified that I was not angry. Sure enough, this put an end to the stream of tears. I then comforted him and explained his wrongdoing, all without raising my voice. Children are like soft clay, ready to be molded before entering adulthood. I believe I handled the situation well. Perhaps it’s because I know I can find a substitute mirror for a low price at Go-part.
